VENUE
Georgia is the home of greatest hospitality, where guests are considered the gift from God. It is the home for a rich cultural heritage, historical, architectural and archeological monuments, natural beauty and unique folklore. Georgia is believed to be the place where first Europeans emigrated and started the western civilizations. Some 1.8 million years ago, homo erectus migrated from Georgia to the West and gave birth to the beginning of western civilization. The country is also believed to be the birthplace of wine. Incredible it may be, there are over 500 indigenous species of grapes in Georgia. Here one can taste wildly unique varieties of wine in a vast array of subtle flavor differences. Georgians are very proud of their heritage. During the visit, the Congress delegates will have the opportunity to see many different museums, fantastic mountain landscapes, unique wine culture and will discover a land rooted in history and secret world hidden for centuries. Georgia has long been known as a nation of artists and as an “artist colony” of the Russian empire, and this tradition still continues in full fledge today. Georgia’s rich and savory cuisine is the natural extension of a fertile, mineral-rich landscape fed by the pure waters of the Caucasus mountains. As well, all of the Congress participants will be inspired by Georgian traditional dance and music and will discover traditional cuisine and table culture and taste delicious Georgian food and wine.

Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, is one of the most picturesque and historical cities in the world. Located strategically at the cross-roads between Europe and Asia and lying along the historic Silk Road routes, Tbilisi has often been the point of contention between various rivaling powers and empires. The city covers an area of 372 sq. kms (144 sq. miles) and has over 1 million inhabitants. Nestled in a river valley where the northern and south Caucus Mountain ranges almost meet, it has spectacular scenes from innumerable locations. Founded in the 5th century AD by Vakhtang Gorgasali, the Georgia King of Kartli (Iberia) and made into a capital in the 6th century. Over the centuries, Tbilisi has become synonymous with gracious living and warm hospitality. In the past, Tbilisi became known for the peaceful Rose Revolution, which took place around Freedom Square and nearby locations in 2003. It is a significant industrial, social, and cultural center, and also emerging as an important transit route for global energy and trade projects. More information about Georgia and Tbilisi might be found on the following websites: www.tourism.gov.ge or www.tbilisi.gov.ge
