GLOBAL BUSINESS IN THE AGE OF TECHNOLOGY

Papers * Host * Awards

Scholarly papers and panel/special session proposals for presentation and publication in the refereed congress proceedings are invited. In addition to sharing scholarship regarding global business, the congress is designed to offer an excellent opportunity to meet colleagues from around the world and exchange information and ideas. In this congress, a special emphasis will be placed on technology within the context of global business.

The program of the congress is designed to impact business communities, public policy makers, and academicians, through a balance of presentations on academic and practitioner issues covering the whole range of global business. The congress will include keynote addresses, formal paper symposia, and special sessions and panels, such as Meet the Editors and panels on various contemporary global business issues.

Company visits and local tours will also be arranged for congress participants. Attendees will have the opportunity to travel to a winery (with tasting opportunities) and Silicon Valley electronics and computer businesses.

A number of exciting social activities have also been arranged for participants, including a banquet dinner at the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Friday, June 2.

The congress location is the beautiful California city of Monterey which offers the charms of the wine country, the success of Silicon Valley, the enchanting environment of one of the world’s most attractive aquariums, culinary treats in caves, beautiful beaches, and many other tempting attractions. Monterey is easily accessed by air, car, or limousine.

HOST

The host of the World Business Congress is the Monterey Institute of International Studies (MIIS), a private, accredited, graduate institution founded in 1956, comprised of four professional schools and 800 graduate students and located in the heart of Monterey. With almost half of its students from outside the United States, and a core competence in languages, The Monterey Institute of International Studies’ Fisher Graduate School of International Business is truly an exceptional multicultural international business program. The Graduate School of International Policy Studies is noted for its Center for Nonproliferation Studies as well as emphases in commercial diplomacy and environmental studies. MIIS also houses two graduate language schools, Translation and Interpretation, almost unique and distinguished in its field, and Language and Educational Linguistics, with a strong reputation in teaching English as a second language.

AWARDS

INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS DEAN AND CHAIRPERSON AWARDS AND PRESENTATIONS

One award is made each year to a business dean and/or to a business chairperson who has made outstanding contributions to education related to international business. A nomination letter outlining the qualifications of the nominee to receive the award should be sent electronically only by April 1 to Dr. Gary N. OUTSTANDING INTERNATIONAL BUSINESSPERSON OF THE YEAR AWARD

One award is made each year to an international businessperson who has made outstanding contributions to international business practice or policy.
